FUNDRAISING, DONATIONS, AND TAX RECEIPTS

Does the Face-Off Against Cancer canvas door- to-door?
No, Face-Off Against Cancer does not canvas door to door. Nor, do we encourage participants to solicit funds by door-to-door canvassing. Some individuals however may choose to canvass neighbors in their communities. We encourage donations to be done online from our website.

How do I make sure that I sponsored the correct team?
Unfortunately we do not have the capabilities of allowing each team have their own website so whom ever is donating needs to specify which team they are pledging too in the comments section on the donation form. If this is not done, then we will not be able to tell how much each team raises individually and the money will simply go in a general donation category for the charity.

How much money does my team need to raise?
Every donation regardless of the size makes difference and as such there is no minimum amount that your team needs to raise to participate in this event. We do encourage teams to set a fund raising goal as they see fit. We want participation and awareness first for the cause. We will help you with pledge forms and donation forms. Our committee will do our best to help create a buzz to raise money to beat cancer through press releases, local radio plugs etc...

I know someone who doesn't have access to donate on line, is there another way to donate?
Yes, talk to your team captain as they will be provided with manual pledge sheets capturing your complete name, mailing address, the amount of your donation and method of payment (cash/cheque/Visa/MC). Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $15 or more unless requested. Your tax receipt will be sent out by the Alberta Cancer Foundation once they receive your donation.

I donated online, do I get a tax receipt?
When you make your donation online at www.albertacancer.ca or (see pledge your team now), your tax receipt is immediately generated in a PDF format which you can print off for your records.

I made an online donation and cannot open my tax receipt. Why is this?
Tax receipts issued on line are in PDF format. If you do not have Adobe Reader on your computer, you will not be able to open the attachment. Download Adobe Reader at www.adobe.com

Do my Tax receipts come from Face-Off Against Cancer?
No, your tax receipts are issued directly through the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

I lost my Tax receipt, What do I do?
Please contact the Alberta Cancer Foundation toll-free at 1-866-412-4222

Do I get a tax receipt for paying my registration fee?
Unfortunately the registration fee is non-refundable and non-receiptable. The fee helps go towards the cost of running the tournament.

Is there a deadline to submit my donations in order for the money to count towards my teams Hockey Draft?
Yes, your team must have their donations in by September 4th 2007 in order for the money to count towards your teams hockey draft. We do encourage you to continue to raise money after this cut off though as every dollar will make a difference.

If a company sponsor this event, can they hang their banners in the arena for the tournament for advertisement purposes?
If companies wishes to sponsor the tournament they will have the benefit of advertisement on the website and they may also hang banners at the event if they provide them.

If a company enters a team can they wear their company jerseys?
Jerseys are the team's responsibility so teams are able where what they wish, just as long as they have both away and home jersey.

Are donors going to receive tax receipts, as in both service companies and individuals?
All donations will receive tax deductions if one (or companies) donates to the Alberta Cancer Foundation. We are currently not giving tax deductions for sponsorships as the incentive is for the advertising. If FOAC is over event operation costs we will issue out partial tax deductible returns to companies via the Alberta Cancer Foundation for the remainder unused money. If necessary, some funds may be kept for next year if the event is held again. If a sponsor wants a tax deduction from the Alberta Cancer Foundation (ACF) they may directly donate to the ACF. We will have this link shortly on our website. If you would like to donate make sure you type in the event field Face-Off Against Cancer and team name in the team field, so we can track money raised. We are sanctioned by the Alberta Cancer Foundation and are monitored by a representative who sits on our committee board.

Can a sponsor donate and advertise?
Yes, a company or individual can donate funds to Face-Off Against Cancer. Tell us what you would like as a tax donation and we send those funds to the Alberta Cancer Foundation in your name. Also, tell us what amount you would like for advertisement.
